Lake Geneva Country Club

I must confess I had never heard of LGCC until so well connected golf friends of mine started talking about it.

The course sits on the magnificent Lake Geneva a vacation destination for well-heeled vacationers mostly in from the nearby cities of Chicago and Milwaukee.

The oldest club in Wisconsin the course boasts the longest consecutive match play competition in the US (the event began in 1898!).

While the course reminds me of a Raynor design I was remind by my host that LGCC was built before Raynors day.

Of particular note are a beautiful stretch of holes along the water and near the club house (8 – 14) but all the holes stand up to “top 100” standards.
The membership is small (around 100 families) and they do not allow raters or else for sure they would be a top 100 classic course.
If you are fortunate enough to get the chance to play, definitely go for it!
