This classic CB MacDonald course has been restored and in many ways improved with the Gil Hanse work this past winter (2018). As a Westchester native, I think this course is now the best one north of NYC (which is saying something) and is a top 50 course in the US (which is also saying something).
I am a bit without words (HUGE FAN!)… but basically the course is beautiful and the holes are super fun and playable. A number of times someone in our group said “wow” when coming onto the tee or coming up to a ridgeline where the Hudson came back into view.
The 16th hole with the thumb-print green is remarkable and all over Instagram these days as the signature hole of the course, but I also loved the punch bowl 15 and the brand new par 5 Gil built in the woods.
The clubhouse is regal and beautiful (maybe a bit over the top) but the club remains casual and cool. I like that they really encourage kids and families there which was evident on this summer day.
I had heard and read so much about the 2019 version of Sleepy Hollow and everything about our day lived up to the hype.
Do not say “no” to an invite to play this course!
